The University of Minnesota is proud to host one of the first dedicated clinics in the nation focused on evaluating and managing new-onset seizures in older adults. Seizures in seniors often present subtly and are frequently misdiagnosed or overlooked. Our clinic provides rapid, expert evaluation—including high-resolution brain MRI, EEG, and comprehensive risk assessment—to ensure timely and accurate diagnosis.
Given that seizure recurrence rates in older adults can reach 35% within two years, early intervention is critical. Our multidisciplinary team specializes in identifying underlying causes such as stroke, tumors, or early signs of dementia, and creating tailored treatment plans that prioritize safety, cognitive health, and quality of life. This clinic reflects our deep commitment to improving neurologic care for aging populations.
